February 19, 2018 FEDERAL IMMIGRATION MINISTER AHMED HUSSEN STATES THAT THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A PATHWAY TO PERMANENT RESIDENCY FOR CAREGIVERS UNDER THE LIBERAL GOVERNMENT.

Earlier this month, the government announced that the current Caregiver Program was set to expire on November 29, 2019, and that caregivers who did not have 24 months of work experience by that date would be unable to apply for permanent residency.

Federal Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen has announced on Twitter that the government is reviewing the Caregiver Program in the upcoming months and that the government is committed to maintaining a pathway to permanent residence for caregivers.

Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will be holding a consultation on the Caregiver Program from March to April. Caregivers and advocacy groups across the country have called for an open, public and collaborative consultation process.
